About Kigali Diocese

Kigali Diocese is one of 11 Dioceses of the Province of Anglican Church of Rwanda.  It has 6 Archdeaconries with 41 parishes, 192 local churches and 774 Home cells, Total members are 45,576. The Diocese operates in 3 Districts of Kigali city (Nyarugenge, Kicukiro and Gasabo), two  Districts of  Eastern Province ( Rwamagana, Bugesera), two Districts of Northern province (Rulindo and Gakenke).

 VISION: To be a Church that glorifies God and impacts the community through our fellowship, Evangelism, discipleship, economic empowerment and reconciled relationship.

MISSION: To proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in Word and deed, for the holistic transformation of lives of Church members and communities.

OBJECTIVES OF KIGALI DIOCESE:

1.To be a church that promote worship(Mt:22:37-38)

2.To be a church that preaches with the aim of increasing the number of its membership Mt28:19-20; Acts2:47, 6:7)

3.To teach and train the members to Christian maturity

4.To encourage and build fellowship among the members.

5. A church that promotes social development.

6.To improve the performance and welfare of the staff.

  1. EVANGELISM, MISSION AND TRAINING DEPARTMENT

 ACTIVITIES: · TEE, Discipleship, Church planting, Liturgy, Ecumenicalrelations, Trainings, Christian literatures and conventions.

  2. CHURCH AND COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION DEPARTMENT

 The population of Rwanda is 11,150,000 and 90% generate their income from traditional agriculture, The program goal is to mobilize the church and community to take care of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their families and improve the quality of life by using the little resources they have. Integral Mission is the key of our main activities.

 ACTIVITIES: · Savings, OVC ministry, Trauma healing and Reconciliation HIV /AIDS, Water & sanitation, Church & community mobilization, Relief and disasters intervention.

We have 342 saving groups with 6,798 members,  29,049,078 Rwf of amount saved, 39,861,191 Rwf in loan and 31,997,422 Rwf in investments (livestock, land and small businesses).

  3. YOUTH DEPARTEMENT.

  ACTIVITIES: ·   Sunday school ministry, Students ministry, Boys and Girls brigades, Sports outreach, youth Camps, Advising and supporting youth workers. Rwanda is a country with a predominantly young population, more than 55% are under 18 years Old.  The median age is “19”.

   4. MOTHERS UNION.

 ACTIVITIES:  Family life, Parenting, Christian Day care & Nursery schools, Women empowerment, Gender Based violence, Guest House.

   5. EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

 ACTIVITIES: Primary, Secondary, university, Vocation training centers, School chaplaincy, relations with ministry of education, Training equipment, teachers, Compassion projects. Kigali Diocese has 17 Primary Schools 6 of them has 9 years basic education,  3 secondary schools and 2 Vocational Schools.

  6. ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE.

 ACTIVITIES:· Accounting, Income generating strategies, Personnel, Property ( cars, land and logistics), Archives, Auditing, and planning.

Nezerwa website is run by the Youth Department of the Anglican Diocese of Kigali in collaboration with a team of young people, who volunteer their time and skills to make sure that this website is up, running and up to date. We call them the media team.
